I'm Baaaaack!

Okay... so I've been remiss in updating my blog. I know that.

I've been busy.

With the kids.

No? Okay.

How about with my job?

No again?

Well, with life?

What's that? Every other blogger has a life too, and they manage to post more often than I do? Yeah, well...

Pbbbllllt!! to you too. (with a little spittle thrown in for good measure)

Anyhoo... I have returned to BlogLand. And let me tell you that I returned not a minute too late. All this crazy stuff has been running around in my head, and I need it to flow onto the internet before it makes my head explode or my husband leave me. You ever heard of that Feast or Famine saying? Well, that's me lately.

I know we're all in a sucky economy, and we have been for a couple of years now. The problem is, I think I had gotten used to it. In the days of plenty, I was used to working 8-10 hour days and having time go by too fast. Then came the housing bubble and all its drama, and I got bored going to work & pretending that I needed 8 hours to do something I used to do in 2. I got complacent thinking, "At least I have a job to pretend to be working at - so many people are unemployed & losing their houses & stuff. All I have to do is stretch out my work load to fill my entire day. Be grateful." Then I was off work for a couple of months (medical stuff, NOT layoff - stop thinking bad thoughts about me), and the world turned on its head.

I have TONS of work! I'm working 10, 12, even 16 hour days! I'm always behind! I need more hours in the day! I see my kids mostly when they're sleeping. And on the weekends when I can see them, I'm either too tired to wake up or I'm back at the office trying to meet another obscenely short deadline. I have been constantly dreaming about pipe supports and northings and eastings and fabrications lengths and equipment locations. I'm even working in my dreams!

So, in honor of my company's return to prosperity (Hello, new people. It really is nice to meet you. Please don't be offended because I don't remember your name. The last 30 of you were hired while I was out, and I don't do well with names anyway. How about I give you a numbered nickname? I'm great with numbers.) and my rapidly approaching work hysteria, I'm going on vacation.

When, you say? Well, that depends. If I count next weekend's Mexicali trip to visit my goddaughters & stepson & MIL, then the 18th. If I count the fax I sent to that travel place for that San Francisco trip I won last year and they actually have my requested dates available, then maybe the end of March. If all that falls through, could I count the one-day trip to the beach that my Mom and I get for Mother's Day?

Well, we certainly are picky about vacation definitions, aren't we? Ha! I have a FABULOUS vacation coming up.

July 2011 = RV roadtrip for TWO WEEKS! Somewhere in the US, here I come!!

P.S. E, I'm trying really hard to get the itinerary that includes HOUSTON approved, but it's a family vote so we might need to get creative with the boys (read: bribes - they'll do almost anything for candy because I never let them have any sugar).
